Barack and Michelle Obama Strike Podcasting Deal With Spotify

Spotify Technology SA struck a deal for the entertainment-production company started by Barack and Michelle Obama to develop and produce podcasts that will be available only on the streaming service.

The former president and first lady, whose company is called Higher Ground, are expected to participate in at least some of the podcasts covering a range of topics, the companies said Thursday. That could potentially mean hosting, narrating or interview roles. Financial terms of the multiyear agreement weren’t disclosed, nor were details about programming or how many podcasts the deal might include.

The partnership comes after Spotify, already the second-largest podcast platform, behind Apple Inc., recently acquired a trio of podcasting companies for around $400 million—part of a plan to spend as much as $500 million altogether on such deals this year.

“We are thrilled that not only will the Obamas be producing content, but that they will be lending their voices to this effort,” said Spotify content chief Dawn Ostroff.

Mr. and Mrs. Obama established Higher Ground Productions last year when signing a multiyear deal to produce shows and documentaries for Netflix Inc.

Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk Split After 4 Years Together

Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk have split after four years of dating, PEOPLE confirms. Cooper, 44, and Shayk, 33, have officially decided to end their relationship and are amicably working out how to share custody of their daughter Lea De Seine, who they welcomed in March 2017, an insider tells PEOPLE.
The Oscar-nominated actor and the supermodel began dating in the spring of 2015.
The pair have kept their relationship private, with Shayk telling Glamour UKin February 2019 she preferred to keep their romance out of the spotlight.

“I have a lot of friends who share a lot of their personal life on Instagram or social media, very publicly. I admire it and I think it’s great – but I think it’s all about personal choice,” she said.

“Because my work requires me to be out there, I just decided my personal life will be quiet. That’s why it’s called personal, because it’s something for you and your family, and I feel happy with it.”
However, a source told PEOPLE at the time that raising their child is more important than getting married.
“They’re focused on their daughter, and they seem happy together.”

Anthony Joshua enjoys night out in New York as he makes his first public appearance after Andy Ruiz Jnr defeat (Photos)

British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua has been pictured for the first in public since his shocking defeat by Andy Ruiz Jnr on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old who was dropped four times before the referee stepped in in the seventh round at Madison Square Garden was spotted enjoying a night-time stroll as he exited Golden Swan Garden, a small park in West Village in New York on Wednesday.
Joshua spoke out about his defeat on Wednesday, addressing his fans via  YouTube.' I took my first (professional) loss,' he said. 'How to explain that feeling? It has happened to me before but I feel like those times I lost years back have made me a stronger person,'
' It hasn't really changed me, my work ethic, my mindset, what I stand for, the people I'm still loyal to — my trainer Rob McCracken, my amateur coach at Finchley ABC. I'm still going to work with these guys, they'll teach me everything I need to know.

'They've done a great job for me not only inside the boxing ring but mainly as a human. They've really developed me as a person which is really important. These guys have been with me for years.'
The boxer who has vowed to win back IBO, IBF, WBO, and WBA also refused to make any excuses for his defeat to the Mexican.
'There was no contaminated food. I know there's a lot of accusations or worries about what was wrong with me,' Joshua added.
'But I want to tell you this — I'm a soldier and I have to take my ups and my downs. And on Saturday I took a loss and I have to take it like a man. I have to take my loss like a man, no blaming anyone or anything.
'I'm the one who went in there to perform and my performance didn't go to plan. I'm the one who has to adjust, analyze and do my best to correct it and get the job done in the rematch.
'Boxing is a part of my life and I'm a champion at heart. Congratulations to Andy Ruiz, he has six months or so to be champion because the belts go in the air and he has to defend them against myself.

NBC shuts down AIT, Ray Power FM indefinitely

The Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has suspended indefinitely the license of Daar Communications Plc, owners of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Ray Power.

The Director-General of NBC, Modibbo Kawu, who made this known to journalists this evening, said the ban is as a result of the broadcasting station's failure to abide by the broadcasting code.

Below is the statement from NBC
“Following monitoring reports and complaints from concerned Nigerians about the broadcast contents of Daar Communications Plc’s AIT/Raypower broadcast stations, the NBC have over the last 2 years summoned on several occasions management of the company to address issues regarding the operations of AIT/Raypower with the company, particularly, Political Platform and Kakaaki aired on AIT,” he said.
“In one of our meetings, held on 2nd June, 2017, the Commission expressed its disappointment with the way and manner Hate Speech, divisive and inciting comments are applied in discussion of national issues in breach of the provisions of the NBC Act and Broadcast Code.
“Again, on 15th August, 2017, it became imperative to invite the company for yet another meeting on almost same issues. Furthermore, while addressing another meeting on 7th February, 2018 we highlighted issues of concern to the Commission which indicated that the company had been breaching the provisions of Sections 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 of the broadcast Code. The company’s delegates in their response promised to abate the breaches and comply with the law.
“However, on October 18, 2018, the Commission was disturbed with the manner in which social media issues became part of the mainstream media unedited on AIT/Raypower, and was constrained to issue a generic letter to all broadcast stations on.
“Instead of making amends, the management of Daar Communications Plc resorted to the use of media propaganda against the regulator. Even the letters from the NBC were posted on social media platforms,” he said.
“Needless to state that Daar Communications have over the years turned themselves into a bad example of how a professional broadcast outfit should not be run.
“In their relationship with the NBC, Daar Communications carry on, as if it is beyond the regulatory direction of the Commission. They don’t pay their licence fees as and when due.
“Its broadcast is patently partisan and one sided and deliberately inciting and heating the polity. The management of the Company has created the habit of using the channel to fight its personal battles contrary to the statutory requirements of the law.
“Today the 6th of June, 2019, AIT/Rapower embarked on use of inflammatory, divisive, inciting broadcasts, and media propaganda against the government and, the NBC for performing its statutory functions of regulating the broadcast industry in Nigeria.
“Consequently, after several meetings with management of Daar Communications Plc and many letters of warning. The NBC, today 6th June, 2019 took a decision to suspend the licence of Daar Communications Plc for failure to abide by the Commission’s directives, the provisions of the NBC Act Cap N11
“The SHUT DOWN order is until further notice.” Kawu said

Earlier today, the chairman of the station, Raymond Dokpesi, held a press conference where he accused President Buhari of using the NBC to victimize him.
“I have it on strict authority and very assured information that the highest echelons of government, the Presidency, queried and challenged the NBC that they were not doing their jobs: ‘How on earth could they be hearing and seeing on AIT what they termed hate speech?’
“Any criticism of this government is hate speech. The NBC is acting under the authority of the President and Commander-in-Chief. The licensing fees in Nigeria is one of the highest in the world. There is no country in the world where you have this type of exploitative fees. I have appealed for a reduction because the payments cannot be sustained by private broadcasters in Nigeria.
“This economy has plummeted. This government has called this organisation unprintable names which has deterred several advertisers from patronising AIT. I sought an audience with the NBC DG. I called, sent letters and sent text messages to him, but he refused. In spite of the fact that we have to run generators 24-hours of the day, I remain committed to keeping the spirit of broadcasting alive,” Dokpesi said at the press conference

Woman battling depression shares photo of her very messy bedroom with a deep message about depression

A mother of two who says she has been battling major depression for a while shared a very deep and emotional post about depression.

The woman, whose name is Chrissie Gaddies shared photos of her messy bedroom on Facebook and explained why people who have almost ''everything'' still commit suicide because they are depressed.
I was my bedroom yesterday morning. I'm not posting this because I'm proud of it or to be funny. I'm posting this because THIS IS WHAT DEPRESSION LOOKS LIKE. Certainly, there are moments when depression looks like crying and all that stereotypical stuff, but this is what everyday life looks like when you are living with major depression. I pull myself together enough to keep my boys alive and taken care of. We don't miss appointments. We do extracurricular activities. We go to church and to the park. I text friends to check on them and pay my bills. I do what needs to be done. Everything in the apartment gets cleaned except my room. Not intentionally, it just happens.

I've never survived a natural disaster like a tornado or hurricane but I've seen the aftermath on TV. People hide in a safe place to ride out the storm and when everything is calm again they come out and see the damage. That's what living with depression is like for me. I ride it out and then on a day when I wake up and things are good I look around to assess the damage and clean up. And then I wait for the next storm to hit. It could be a day or a few weeks. But it's always coming back.

I've been reading several posts about the recent suicides of celebrities. People have been making these comments about money can't buy happiness and how success can't fill voids in your life. Those words are nice, but they aren't the whole picture. Kate Spade and Anthony B probably loved their work. It probably brought joy and fulfillment to their lives. Just like I love my boys and wouldn't trade being their mom for anything. Depression doesn't care. It holds your head under the water until it decides to let go. And sometimes you just get tired of holding your breath.

The people in your life living with major depression don't look depressed. They get up every day and present well. They are fighting with everything inside of them to be and feel normal. If you're looking for someone in a corner crying you're probably not going to find that.

Just love us where we are. Don't push us to heal or shame us for taking meds. Don't tell us all the things that help you when you're feeling sad. Just love us. Don't try to do life for us. If you offered to clean my room I would tell you no. Not because of shame or pride but because I know my good day is coming and I know how great it's going to feel when I can clean my room, or cook dinner, or whatever it is that I haven't been able to do during the storm.

Stop confusing Nigerians. It is not possible to honor MKO Abiola in one breathe and and then admire his tormentor in another breath - Soyinka

Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka today told President Buhari that honroing late Chief MKO Abiola and praising his ''tormentor in chief'' was quite confusing.

Prof. Soyinka spoke at the Presidential Villa during the conferment of posthumous award of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on the presumed winner of the June 12 presidential election, the Late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.

Though the Nobel Laureate did not mention any name, his words pointed to the late dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha who President Buhari had praised in recent times. Speaking at the event, Soyinka said

“I would like to make a request Mr President that you stop creating confusion in the minds of Nigerians. Stop confusing Nigerians.  It is not possible to honor MKO Abiola in one breathe and and then admire his tormentor in another breath. Loyalty is all very well but that loyalty can become perverse if that loyalty is retained to an individual who if he were alive today, would be before the international court of crimes against humanity, one who broke the laws of Nigeria, committed crimes humanity. It is confusing if professional loyalty is carried so far.

We had a private conversation sometime ago and remember that one of the things I mentioned to you was this, You are fighting corruption, how come it that a notorious corrupt ruler is honored by one of the most important avenues in the FCT. The answer you gave to me was not too satisfactory but I let it pass. Today perhaps is also a day for us to inaugurate our hall of shame to future generations'' he said

You Think Beyonce is a Diva? Try Blu Ivy.

Blue Ivy Carter may only be six but she already has a personal stylist, chef, sportswear line and wears £6,000 frocks. Get the picture?
Daily mail has given us an insight on the weight this six year old is pulling.

She was taken to the Grammy Awards on Sunday night in LA (something of a tradition — she's been attending since 2015).

Seated between her parents, she shushed them with effortless authority when they started clapping singer Camila Cabello during her speech — and caused an instant internet sensation.
Of course, you can't entirely blame the child for her high-handed attitude. But it's worth considering the peculiar lifestyle which has allowed her to get away with being so spectacularly bossy.

While other children may be playing in the park and having fishfingers for tea, Blue Ivy is already a mogul-in-the-making. She has her own staff, a personal stylist, a chef and bodyguards. Plans are already afoot for her to launch her own fragrance and clothing lines and her commercial worth is such that her name is being trade-marked.

Her lifestyle is beyond lavish. Home is one of five mega-properties — two in Los Angeles and one each in New York, The Hamptons and Miami. Birthday parties are screechingly overstated affairs, and, yes, she already has a pony. Truly a pampered billion-dollar princess.
HER DEDICATED STAFF

it's fair to suggest Blue Ivy is never short of attention. There are two full-time nannies. Her younger siblings — twins Sir and Rumi who were born last June — also have two nannies each.

Before she started school, the nannies were reportedly giving Blue Ivy a head start in French, Swahili and art.

The same report suggested she is a 'picky eater' which will be a challenge for the chef, who apparently tempts her with wholewheat pasta shaped like ballet dancers and pureed asparagus.

There is also a full time security detail. There were reports that when she was born, in New York's Lenox Hill hospital in 2012, the security entourage was enormous and obstructed other hospital visitors.

When it comes to getting dressed, she calls on the services of stylist Manuel Mendez, who is based in New York and employed by Parkwood, Beyonce's management company. For the past two years Blue Ivy has been styled by Manuel, rather than sharing a stylist with her mother, who is looked after by Ty Hunter, or her father who is dressed by June Ambrose.

Obviously all three fashion experts talk to each other about their plans — hence the striking monochrome theme at the Grammys on Sunday night where the parents wore black and she wore white.
Adoring daddy Jay-Z — real name Shawn Carter, a reformed drug dealer turned superstar rapper and producer — seems to be keen to launch his tot into the business. She became the youngest person featured in a chart single when the noise of her heartbeat taken from an ultrasound scan featured in his 2012 song Glory.

He used a recording of her first cries on the same track. His 2017 album 4:44 (which failed to win in any of the eight Grammy categories in which it was nominated) included a track titled Blue's Freestyle/We Family. It is a 40-second showcase of his daughter rapping. Some of it is unintelligible but she does shout out 'Boomshakalaka!' although it's a little too soon to say if she has talent.

She has a 'Feat. Blue Ivy' credit on the piano ballad Blue on her mum's 2013 album Beyonce.

Blue Ivy also has a starring turn in Jay-Z's track Family Feud, and is featured in the seven-minute video, released this month.

The song is about the damage caused by his infidelity and in the video he is seen confessing his sins in church while Blue Ivy sits on a pew and mum Beyonce wanders around.

He sings: 'Yeah I'll **** up a good thing if you let me. Let me alone, Becky' a reference to 'Becky with the good hair' who Beyonce said he cheated with in her album Lemonade. Many would question the wisdom of letting a six-year-old star in a music video about the downsides of cheating on your wife. Perhaps it's little wonder she is good at making the shushing movement to Mum and Dad.
A SPECIAL SCHOOL

Nothing but the best is good enough for Blue Ivy, and she attends the Center for Early Education in Los Angeles.

The family moved from New York to the West Coast last year so she could attend — on the urging of Beyonce's close friend Gwyneth Paltrow, who insists there's no better place to raise a family.

The CEE costs between £15,000 and £21,000 a year which Jay-Z, 48, and Beyonce, 36, can easily afford as they are worth a combined £887 million. Founded by psychoanalysts in 1939 it is a progressive school and wildly oversubscribed — 1,000 applicants chase 60 places each year.

The children of Jack Nicholson, Jodie Foster and Barbra Streisand have all attended. Last year Beyonce performed at the school's annual concert — a whopping affair held at the Shrine auditorium which also hosts the Oscars. Not to be outdone, Blue Ivy took centre stage in a ballet routine.
AMAZING SPACES

In September, Beyonce and Jay-Z spent £18.5 million on a home in the Hamptons. The house has seven bedrooms.

They own a huge three-floor apartment in New York and are renting a mansion in Malibu for £306,000 a month that has four pools and bullet-proof glass.

Last summer they were reported to have added their most impressive home yet to their property portfilio when they bought a £95 million pile in Bel Air. It is not known if they have yet moved from their other LA home.

It has eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and garage with space for 15 cars. A real estate source said: 'The house is beyond words. No expense was spared.'

Blue Ivy's first home in New York had a £14,000 cot shaped like a royal carriage and her parents spent £50,000 on a Barbie doll encrusted with diamonds.

The family also has a £170 million, 2.5-acre private island off Florida — bought for Beyonce's 29th birthday.

Topless Kim Kardashian holds open a fur coat to expose her milk shakes as she shares series of VERY racy snaps

What is happening here??! well we all know shes a sucker for racy photos. The 37 year old reality star/business mogul stood holding a fur coat open to expose her body, wearing nothing but a skimpy pair of panties.

Before posting the image Kim had blurred the nipple of her exposed breast. Great! As if it makes it any better.
The mother of three posed in a skimpy bikini on the beach for a shot posted earlier on Monday.

The image was inspired by Bo Derek's breakout 1979 10, and featured Kim lounging on the beach in Malibu wearing a bikini.
Like Bo's, her hair was braided in corn rows prompting some to accuse her of cultural appropriation.

Well, Kim on her 'I don't give a f**k' type attitude, who also wore her hair in braids for the later fur coat image. See more photos below

Is this True Love or what? Reminder that True Love Exists

There are many people that say "oh I do believe in true love, in sickness and health , and they have no clue what they are even saying, this here is an example of the taste of real love.
The Australian ex-model Turia Pitt suffered burns to 65 per cent of her body, lost her fingers and thumb on her right hand and spent five months in hospital after she was trapped by a grassfire in a 100 kilometre ultra-marathon in the Kimberley. Her boyfriend decided to quit his job to care for her recovery. Days ago, in an interview for CNN they asked him:

"Did you at any moment think about leaving her and hiring someone to take her of her and moving on with your life?"

His reply touched the world:

"I married her soul, her character, and she's the only woman that will continue to fulfill my dreams."

How many of you men can do this?

Goodluck Jonathan urges all Nigerians to assist the FG fight against terrorism

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is soliciting with all Nigerians to support the Federal government in this fight against terrorism. Jonathan stated this via his twitter handle while condoling with families of the victims of Boko Haram attack in Adamawa state on Thursday June 17th.
Suspected Boko Haram members stormed a funeral service in Kuda village, Adamawa state, opened fire at the mourners , killing 20 other them who were mostly women.
Isn't this madness under the cloak of a religious war, or some cause? What exactly are they fight for, am sure they don't even know.

Photos: Abuja-Kaduna high speed train project is ready, to fully commence operations in July

The wait is finally over and I believe the abuja residents are breathing their sigh of relief. The Abuja-Kaduna high speed train project is finally ready. The official test-run of the transport system took place yesterday, June 28. It begins full commercial operations once it is inaugurated by President Buhari in July. That cuts down loads of transportation palava. Meanwhile Lagos has waited decades to just complete the tracks.  See more photos below...
